Personal Experience

Vitalia Diaz Shafer is a graduate of Florida State University and Stetson University College of Law. During her time at Stetson University, Ms. Shafer was a member of the nationally acclaimed and recognized Trial Team. She is Board Certified by the Florida Bar in Immigration and Nationality Law.

In Florida, board certified lawyers are legal experts dedicated to professional excellence who have met rigorous standards for experience and professionalism set by the Florida Supreme Court and administered by The Florida Bar Legal Specialization and Education Department. Board certification recognizes attorneys’ special knowledge, skills and proficiency in various areas of law, professionalism and ethics in practice. Board certified lawyers are evaluated for professionalism and tested for expertise. Only 7 percent of eligible Florida Bar members are board certified. – The Florida Bar

Ms. Shafer currently serves as the Tampa Regional Vice-Chair for the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Central Florida Chapter. Ms. Shafer also serves as a Board Advisor to the St. Petersburg College Paralegal Studies Program.

Ms. Shafer has personally advised hundreds of individual clients and scores of for-profit and not-for-profit business organizations on their rights and responsibilities under the immigration laws of the United States. During that time, she has gained a statewide reputation for excellence in immigration advocacy, and is frequently sought out by prominent leaders of the international community, be they corporate executives or even deposed political leaders, for her knowledge and experience with USCIS. Ms. Shafer brings a passion for the law in every case she takes on, and she is not satisfied until all legal options have been identified, thoroughly researched and exhausted. Because of her reputation, she is frequently asked by news media, and legal conferences, to shed light on the often confusing and ever-changing status of American immigration laws.
